Overseas

freight

Our own overseas freight department, including customs clearance, plans and organises transport to the most important ports in Europe. In cooperation with all well-known shipping companies and port handling companies, we coordinate FCL and LCL sea transport as well as RoRo and break bulk shipments…

For airfreight transports we offer daily airport feeder services, including those processed via consolidated transports with favourable airfreight rates and take on the complete document handling process including import and export customs clearance.

Air and sea freight

Air

Transport services within air freight have increased enormously over the past decades. Due to globalisation, supply chains now span the entire globe. This has had a significant impact on logistics services and a great deal of organisational work is required.

Nevertheless, there are clear plus points in favour of air transport:

  • Goods reach their destination more quickly over medium and long distances.
  • Deliveries can be calculated and scheduled more precisely.
  • The speed of deliveries relieves the need for warehousing, reduces waiting times and as such, tied up capital.

Of course, these advantages are offset by serious disadvantages. Here, the fundamentally higher costs and unavoidable pollutant emissions are certainly the biggest "spoilers". Because not all goods can be transported by cargo plane, the task of FRIED-SPED is inevitably to determine exactly which goods can be transported on which delivery route representing the best economic/ecological efficiency.

By sea

The greatest advantage of sea trade is its high flexibility with regard to deliveries of all kinds of goods and commodities. From general cargo to oversized construction machinery such as mobile cranes, which do not fit into any container, the "giants of the seas” can be transported over long distances.
This is also considerably cheaper compared to air freight and overland transport. As such, merchant shipping makes an immense contribution to global economic trade.
