History
and outlook.

Continuity grows from an idea

Our company founder Wendelin Ried had an idea – at a time when prosperity was "establishing itself" in Germany. Industry produced, society consumed. To maintain this balance, everything had to be delivered from A to B promptly and reliably: Pre-produced individual parts to the manufacturers, raw materials to the processors, consumer goods for daily use to the shops or directly to the households. Everything was in flux. And the logistics industry was flourishing. The opportunity arose for "Wendelin Ried Spedition" to help shape and keep the economy running in Germany.

When the company was founded, the second generation was already in place at the start. Young Gerold Ried drove the first trucks with his father and began his own career in the forwarding business "from scratch", so to speak. A little later, as the second managing director of the forwarding company, he quickly took on responsibility within the company and shaped further positive development through an unwavering commitment and clever decisions. Among other things, he personally ensured that the company’s relationship with LIEBHERR as the most important customer was continuously deepened.

As such, his never-ending curiosity, negotiating skills and persistence, coupled with his father's entrepreneurial values and principles, "fuelled" the successful expansion of the company: The most formative milestone in the history of our company is the takeover of "Friedrichsohn Internationale Spedition", or FRIED-SPED for short, under whose name we still operate today.

In 1987, with this entrepreneurial "paradigm shift", Gerold Ried, as managing partner, initiated a continuous upswing of the logistics service provider FRIED-SPED. Since then, employee after employee, truck after truck, kilometre after kilometre, experience after experience, Gerold Ried has kept the company on course with new impulses, ideas and innovations and has already led it into the next, third generation.

Together with his two sons Christian and Ronald as additional managing directors, FRIED-SPED continues to operate and manage reliably, in an agile way and consistently – even under more difficult political, economic and social conditions worldwide. Our mission statement serves as our "guardrail". We orientate ourselves attentively around it in order to achieve the FRIED-SPED goals for the future. Specifically, these are

  • • The future-oriented and customer-oriented expansion of our range of services.
  • • Maximising the satisfaction of our employees.
  • • Strengthening an authentic and transparent environmental awareness within the company.
